Dhadak is running successfully in theatres. The romantic drama has earned Rs Rs 63.38 crore at the domestic box office, which is a feat. We met up with the principal cast, Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, and director, Shashank Khaitan to discuss the movie and its success. At one point in our conversation, we started discussing scenes from the movie, including the ending and the Zingat song. We all, by now, must know how shocking the ending was. Well, another shocking scene in the movie was when Ishaan’s character, Madhu, slaps Janhvi’s character, Parthavi. The audience in the theatre was in stunned into silence. The scene is sort of a changing point in the movie. But violence upon a woman? Now, that is something unimaginably cringeworthy to watch. And, the trio we were talking to agreed.
Shashank said, “Slap scene is very important part of Sairat. I am not a propagator of violence against women. I am someone who has condemned it very deeply in real life,” He further added that it was important to stay true to the character at the point of time in the story. Ishaan resonated, “It is the lowest point for that character.
