Telugu playback singer Khushi Murali dies on the Goutami Express
Telugu playback singer Khushi Murali, who earned the title of ‘Khushi’ after his popular song in the film of the same name, died Friday following a cardiac arrest. He was 45. Murali suffered a heart attack while travelling to Kakinada from Secunderabad on the Gautami Express. He was going to participate in the Kakinada Beach Festival. “He collapsed in the train he was travelling in to Kakinada. He passed away even before he reached the Kakinada government hospital,” said a hospital administrator. In a career spanning over a decade, Murali sang over 100 songs. Some of his hit numbers are from films Khushi, 100 percent Love, Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu and Mr Perfect.

Dara Singh still ‘very critical’
Wrestler-actor Dara Singh, who is on life support system and undergoing dialysis, continued to battle for life Tuesday with doctors attending on him saying he was very critical. “He is still very critical. Very much with us,” said Dr Ram Narain, COO, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Tuesday morning. The 84-year-old was admitted to the hospital on July 7 following a severe cardiac problem, which later led to a kidney malfunction. In his prime, Dara Singh was a world-famous wrestler and won the title of Rustam-e-Hind for his prowess. He entered Hindi cinema in 1952, featuring in movies like Watan Se Door, Daada, Rustom-E-Baghdad, Sher Dil, Sikandar E Azam, Raaka, Mera Naam Joker and Dharam Karam. His last major film was Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met. He is also remembered for his portrayal of Lord Hanuman in the 1980 TV series Ramayan.

Govinda’s sister Pushpa passes away
Bollywood actor Govinda’s sister Pushpa passed away in Mumbai on October 2. She was 68. Pushpa was the mother of actor Vinay Anand, who made his debut with Lo Main Aa Gaya in 1999 and had appeared in Hindi films like Aamdani Atthani Kharchaa Rupaiyaa. He later moved to Bhojpuri cinema. Pushpa reportedly suffered a massive cardiac arrest and breathed her last at her suburban Mumbai residence when Vinay had just stepped out to run an errand. Govinda rushed to be with his sister’s family after her demise.

Brazilian director Oscar Marron Filho passes away at IFFI Goa
In a tragic incident, Brazilian documentary director Oscar Marron Filho suffered a cardiac arrest during an interactive session Sunday afternoon and died later at a local hospital. IFFI director Shankar Mohan said that as a mark of respect for the Brazilian director, the film parties scheduled Sunday would be cancelled and the playing of loud music would be stopped. Filho, 56, whose film Mario Filho: A Creator of Crowds – based on famed Brazilian journalist and writer Mario Filho was screened as a part of a special package on soccer films – was speaking during Open Forum, an interactive session with delegates on Sunday when he suddenly suffered a heart attack. After a few minutes of chaos, the ailing Filho was rushed to the Goa Medical College and hospital located some distance from Panaji, where he succumbed. “We are suspending festivities for today. Two minutes’ silence will be observed at all theatres at 8pm today. His relatives have been informed,” Mohan said.
