The pretty lass will be seen in a new avatar in ace director’s next venture.
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s debut in Kollywood may have bombed at the box office, but the actor has been spotted soaring on high spirits recently. With her Kannada debut film Maanikya , where she starred opposite Sudeep, doing extremely well and the fact that she bagged an interesting role in ace director Bala’s next film, the starlet seems to be ready to mark her space in K-town.
The daughter of actor Sarthkumar, Varalaxmi will be seen portraying the role of Karakattam dancer in Bala’s Tharai Thappattai. The actor-director Sasikumar has been roped in to play the lead. The lovely dame who is already a trained dancer is really excited about the role as it gives her a scope to learn an ancient folk dance form like Karakattam. The Poda Podi star is doing research on the dance form and is undergoing rigourous training to master her dance moves.
“I play a Karakattam dancer in the film and so have a dance tutor. Though I am dancer, this dance form is difficult to master. I am also doing research on such dancers. I have been watching videos on the art form and the artists. I have been getting to know how they lead their lives. I am sure my research will help me perfect my performance. I am also on a weight-loss programme for this film” chirped the Maanikya babe.
The strict task master director Bala, known for extracting award winning performances from the actors, chose Varalaxmi over Shriya Saran and Shravanti due to her prior dancing experiences. Varalaxmi is currently concentrating hard on her Karakattam dancer role and we hope that director Bala goes a little easy on the starlet.
