The beauty of certain films come out when there is an exciting collaboration behind it. When Mercury was announced, it intrigued fans when they found that Karthik Subbaraj was teaming up with Prabhudheva this time. What made this partnership even more interesting was that Prabhudheva was coming on board for a silent thriller! When Bollywoodlife met up with exciting duo, our first question to Karthik was, Why Prabhudheva? – Here’s what the director had to say
“Dance is a form of expression and Prabhudheva is a great actor too. I always wanted to work with him. And I thought the character is so unique and he hasn’t done this kind of before. So I thought it would be unique for him as well. When I narrated the story he liked it and he he has done a superb performance. When Prabhudheva was asked about his experience shooting for Mercury, here’s what he had to say – “Experience was so good. I was excited actually. I never felt it was a tough film because the director was cool and he knew what he wanted. The screenplay was already so good, I was excited to do this film.”
After an intriguing promo, the trailer of Mercury was finally unveiled. Each time we catch a glimpse of this film, we can help but be in awe of its rich cinematography. With no dialogues in the film, the director is making all other aspects – The cinematography, the filming, the background score are top-notch. There is an eerie vibe around this movie that gives you goosebumps. Sathosh Narayan’s haunting composition does complete justice to the concept. We love the colour scheme that dominated the film throughout. And Prabhudheva is seen in a dramatic avatar, one that will stay with you even after the film is over. We can’t wait for the mystery to unfold on April 13th! Has Karthik Subbaraj got another winner in his hands? We will know soon. But we have to admit, Karthik is walking the path unknown as he introduces a silent film after thirty years in Indian Cinema.
