Finally the Rs 100 crore grossing film will be available for home viewing, but will it be worth the wait? We doubt…
It has been 17 months since the time Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani’s sex comedy, Grand Masti hit the theatres. The film went on to cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the Box office, but it hasn’t yet seen the light of the day on the television circuits. The reason, as we already know, is the content of the film, which borderlines on sexual innuendos. However, all that is going to change now.
The makers of the film have got a go ahead from the censor board but they will have to make around 218 cuts to the film. Now isn’t that too much? A board official said while speaking to a leading daily, “They have been asked to resubmit the film after making the suggested cuts. Only then will a decision on the certification of the film be taken. With 218 cuts, one wonders how much of the film will be left. The board may pass the film with the requested certification but only if the recommended cuts and modifications are accommodated.”
The makers have already started making the necessary changes to the film for home viewing.
Now we don’t know as to how much will the film remain after 218 cuts to it. We, however, think it will be better for fans to wait and watch the third instalment of the film as and when it releases. The next part, Phir Grand Masti will once again star the trio in the lead roles and will mark Riteish’s comeback to the sex comedy genre.
