Shaheer Sheikh’s Mughal-e-Azam ropes in Aruna Irani in a pivotal role

Colors’ Mughal – E- Azam is one of the most talked about upcoming projects on Indian TV. It is being made by the same team of Prithvi Vallabh. Buzz is that Shaheer Sheikh has been finalised to play Prince Salim on the show. He has done a historical show, Mahabharat before and is known for his acting chops. The hunt for the actress is still on, and even Sonarika Bhadoria is apparently in the running. Now, news has come that they have roped in Aruna Irani to play an important role in the show. As per a report in Tellychakkar.com, the veteran actress will play the role of Hamida Banoo Begum on the show. She was the wife of Mughal Emperor Humayun. She will be Shaheer’s grandmother on the historical magnum opus. (Also Read: Shaheer Sheikh’s Mughal-E-Azam gets its villain in Beyhadh actor Piyush Sahdev?)

The lady confirmed the development to the entertainment portal. She said, “It is a very dignified role. She is someone whom everyone obeys including Akbar. She is dominating yet very emotional.” It seems producer Anirudh Pathak found her perfect for the role of the regal matriarch. Hamida Begum was given the title of Maryam Makani by Emperor Akbar. It seems she was reluctant to marry Humayun but agreed at the insistence of Dildar Begum, his step-mother. A lot of thought is being put in the casting as the team wants able performers. Few months back, Aruna was seen as an Oracle Priestess in Swastik Productions’ show Porus. It was a cameo, which was quite liked by all. Buzz is that Piyush Sahdev is finalised as the main villain of Mughal-E-Azam. Stay tuned to Bollywood Life for more scoop and updates!
