Shahana Goswami goes de-glam for Deepa Mehta’s ‘Midnight’s Children’

After playing the urban chick in most of her movies, Shahana is all set to try her hand at something that’s drastically different

The dusky babe was last seen sharing screen space with Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor in RA.One. By grooving in a chic black gown, becoming the superhero G.One’s best ally, the actor made a tiny little space for herself in the out-and-out commercial arena. But maybe that wasn’t enough, after winning accolades for her performance in movies like Rock On and Firaaq, Ms Goswami had to raise the bar and take up something that’s challenging enough to keep her excited about her work. However, as ironic as it may sound, the actor has taken the de-glam route to sustain in this glamorous profession. Shahana, who is playing the role of Amina in Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children (an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s book), has been given the no make-up and oily hair look. Director Deepa Mehta is leaving no stone unturned to promote this interesting character. “Breathtaking Shahana as Amina; the lover, wife, mother in Midnight’s Children. She illuminates the film,” she wrote on the micro blogging site Twitter. As the film is slated to release in 2012, we wish the gorgeous babe best of luck and wait for this film to hit the screens.
