Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan starrer Shaadi ke Side Effects will hit the theatres on February 28. While the film looks promising as Farhan and Vids have teamed up for first time, its music is equally interesting. It’s a sequel to Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose’s romantic comedy Pyaar Ke Side Effects which was high on music thanks to composer Pritam Chakraborty. Interestingly, Pritam has scored the music for the sequel as well. So has he gone one step further with Shaadi ke Side Effects? Read on to find out….

Harry is not bharamchari featuring Farhan Akhtar and Vir Das is a completely entertaining song. The music is upbeat, lyrics are catchy and this club number will certainly compel you to groove. Both the singers Jazzy B and Ishq Bector have done a fine job crooning this fun track. In fact, the video is equally interesting thanks to Farhan’s naagin dance. The makers have included two more different versions of this song but wethinks the original version is the best one. Do hear this song and we are sure it will find a place in your playlist. But remember to put on your dancing shoes while you listen to this zestful number.

Next up is Tumse pyar ho gaya which has been sung by Mili Nair, Nikhil Paul George and Neeti Mohan. This one is simple and easy on the ears. Tumse pyar ho gaya is one of those songs you would love hearing on a long drive. Fresh music, delightful lyrics and beautiful singing by the talented trio makes this one worth hearing.

Then we have the Punjabi track Tauba main vyaah karke pachtaya. Sung by Alam, Shahid Malya and Poorvi Koutish, this song is just about okay. Though what’s interesting is the arrangement of shehnai in the mainstay. It blends perfectly with the Punjabi lyrics and drum beats. However, Pape pyar karke pachtaya from the prequel Pyaar Ke Side Effects starring Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose is much better. But it wouldn’t hurt if you hear this number once. Though there is another version, we found it quite close to the original one.

Desi romance sung by Suchi and the very versatile Ariji Singh is a bit disappointing especially compared to the other tracks of the album. This club number starts off on promising thanks to Suchi who is brilliant throughout. But music by Pritam for this particular track isn’t’ that impressive which is the only let down. It’s one of those songs which you will either like it or prefer staying away from completely depending upon your mood.

Finally Farhan Akhtar croons Yahaan vahaan which is a soulful song. Guitar in the background, meaningful lyrics and lastly Farhan’s husky voice adds extra charm to this already beautiful track. Reprise version of this song is equally amazing but with electric guitar in mainstay which sets the mood from the very start. We are sure every music lover will surely get addicted to this one just like we did!

Another interesting track is Bawla sa sapna crooned by Mohit Chauhan. This one is a feel-good song which is soothing to the ears. And Mohit Chauhan’s melodious voice will certainly hit the right chords with the listener’s wethinks. He is one singer who adds life to the song with his voice. There is one more version of this song sung by Diva which is even more endearing. Hear it and you’ll agree!

Lastly, we have Farhan Akhtar singing an emotional number Ahista ahista. Unlike most tracks of this album, this one is pretty slow. Akhtar’s voice is good but that’s the only thing to boast about. Overall, it’s an average song at least for us. Maybe we didn’t like the song much coz the album is otherwise filled with fast and upbeat numbers. So suddenly hearing a sad song was a bit unsettling.

Verdict: Music composer Pritam has certainly taken the music of Shaadi Ke Side Effects to another level. While found the music of this film really good, you tell us what you think.

PS: Yahaan vahaan and Bawla sa sapna are a must hear!
