With the date for his surrender just three days away, the actor has asked for six months to fulfill all professional and personal commitments
The countdown for Sanjay Dutt began on March 21 when the Supreme Court sentenced the actor to five years imprisonment. The actor was given four weeks time to finish pending assignments and surrender to the Mumbai police on April 18, as punishment for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case. Now news comes in that the Munnabhai star has requested the Supreme Court to grant him six months more before he has to begin serving the remainder of his five-year sentence, which has three-and-a-half years left. With remission, this term could be reduced to thirteen months. The case will now be heard tomorrow.
The 53-year-old actor is currently in the midst of shooting his projects – Policegiri, Zanjeer, P.K., Unglee – and considering there’s a lot more to finish, Dutt has asked the apex court for more time. After claiming more than once that he wanted no respite from the law and is ready to serve the sentence, we wonder what made Sanjay change his mind again, file the review petition on Mahesh Bhatt’s insistence and ask for more time. But isn’t six months too much to ask for? Will Sanju baba get temporary relief, BollywoodLifers? Watch this space for more updates.
