Director Sajid Khan seems to be sceptical about the credibility of film awards and compares them with television shows
“Awards are just TV shows, it’s only a TV show. Even we (Sajid and Ajay Devgn) will start one soon. We will soon have an Ajay Devgn and Sajid Khan Foundation Awards,” Sajid Khan told reporters when he was asked about the credibility of the award functions.
He was speaking at the theatrical promo launch of his film Himmatwala at the single screen theatre Gaiety Galaxy Thursday.
While talking about the film, inspired by Jeetendra-starrer 1983 hit Himmatwala, Sajid said the film will see Ajay in a never-seen-before avatar.
“‘Himmatwala is not a remake. The film is set in 1983 and based in that era. I can say Ajay will be presented like never before in this film. It’s a complete family entertainer,” said Sajid.
Known for making comic capers like Housefull, this will be his first action drama.
“My first film Heyy Babyy was a drama and then Housefull and Housefull 2 was a comedy film. But this film will be my first action drama,” he said.
Ajay, who was also present, said the film is not a spoof of the original Himmatwala.
“We have stayed true to the 1980s style. I would say it’s not a spoof, we have just copied the 1980s style,” said the actor.
Himmatwala also features Tammanah and is slated for a March 29 release. The film is being co-produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Vashu Bhagnani.
