There was a recent brutal incident that triggered this reaction from the Rang De Basanti actor.
On June 24th, a 24 year old female was brutally murdered by a man who was known to be obsessed with her. When she didn’t reciprocate his feelings, he slashed her in public right outside Nungambakkam station. This man was known to stalk her and follow her around and this is how he reacted when she refused his advances. Unfortunately in reel life, this very stalking syndrome is given a romanticised notion. Movies are known bring out the idea that women, when they say no, doesn’t quite mean the same. It also means, one must not give and continue to persist till she gives. Because secretly, that’s what she wants! But that is NOT the case in reality and we all know that. So when the Editor in chief of a leading portal was sending out a petition against on-screen talking, Siddarth had quite a lot to say. He blames himself as well for this delusional portrayal of stalking in movies. He went on a RANT and stated that this must stop:
We’ve been selling a terrible dream in our films for long. That any man can get the woman he wants just by wanting her enough. Must change!

When a woman stalks a man in our films she’s a vamp. When a man does it he is a hero. It’s a complicated discussion. But it needs to be had.

Siddarth, we totally second you on this. But this is not first time, the actor has voiced his disgust or anger against various issues. The actor in Bollywood is best known for his role as Siddarth in Rang De Basanti
