If you thought that Imtiaz Ali is lying low after the debacle of Jab Harry Met Sejal, then we have some news for you. The filmmaker’s last outing with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma might have tanked at the box office, but Imtiaz already has his next script ready. From what we hear this movie will feature Ali’s favourite hero Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. Apparently Imtiaz has already approached Ranbir for his next project and RK Jr has even given his nod for this film. With Ranbir green lighting the movie, we’re sure that fans of the filmmaker and actor will be super thrilled. Because together Imtiaz and Ranbir are a fab combo. A source close to the actor revealed, “Ranbir will be a part of Imtiaz’s next. That’s not all the actor will go through massive transformation for this film. Imtiaz plans to show different stages of the character’s life.” Well, that kind of rings a bell, doesn’t it? Ranbir’s grandfather Late actor Raj Kapoor’s Mera Naam Joker showed the different stages of the character’s life. This film also featured Ranbir’s daddy dearest Rishi Kapoor as the young Raj Kapoor.
Ranbir is currently filming for Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanjay Dutt biopic titled Dutt. After that we will see the talented hero bulk up for his first film Dragon opposite Alia Bhatt, which is a superhero flick directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. While Ranbir’s films haven’t had a great run at the theatres all eyes are now on the Dutt biopic. Unfortunately, for RK Jr despite his movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil having done decent business, his much delayed and awaited and debut production venture Jagga Jasoos bombed at the box office despite getting decent reviews from critics. In fact, while Ranbir shares a great rapport with Imtiaz Ali, his films with the latter, Rockstar and Tamasha are not exactly his career bests. Having said that it would be interesting to see Ranbir and Imtiaz reunite for a film. And yes, we already have a pick to play Ranbir‘s baby version…. sister Kareena Kapoor Khan’s baby Taimur Ali Khan, what say?
