Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan yet to get a release date in Sandalwood?

Actor’s Kannada dubbed version of Kochadaiiyaan on hold as debate intensifies.

In 2014, Rajinikanth starred in his first ever animation film, Kochadaiiyaan. The movie was directed by his daughter Soundarya and written by KS Ravikumar. Deepika Padukone played the female lead and Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff was roped in for a supporting role. It was India’s first animation film based on motion capture. After receiving great praise, the Superstar decided to release the Kannada dubbed version. But now it seems like the actor may be in a little trouble.

The Superstar contacted a top actor/producer in Sandalwood and he was troubled to find that his Kochadaiiyaan project in Kannada is being fiercely debated. Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce(KFCC) and Karnataka Film Producers Association(KFPA) had imposed a ban on releasing any non regional movie in Kannada. However, the Competition Commission of India(CCI) have ruled out against the ban and termed it as unconstitutional. But the two state organisations had refused and challenged the verdict. Rajinikanth’s film is supposed to be the first to be released in Kannada after the lifting of the ban. The veteran actor is now torn between those who support the ban and those who oppose it, both parties expecting the Superstar to speak in their favor.

In the middle of all this controversy, Rajini surely suffers a loss as his film is being stalled from a proper release. Only time will tell on which side will he stand.
