Rajinikanth’s Kabali, Sivakarthikeyan’s Remo were NOT hits, states lead producer Tirupur Subramaniam in a LEAKED audio

In a leaked whatsapp audio clip, a leading producer Tirupur Subramaniam has spilled the beans. He has come out and stated that all the box office figures of Tamil movies, that is shared and celebrated on social media is fake. As per reports by film critic Sreedhar Pillai – Tirupur is a lead distributor and exhibitor who controls the Coimbatore, one of the large territories of Tamil Nadu. He reportedly looks over 170 screens from among 1000 screens.  In this audio clip he has come out and said, in the last seven months, all those films that starred big actors did not make as much money, as they claimed. In fact, they were not profitable for the distributors nor the theatres that paid MG amount ( Minimum Guarantee) He categorically listed out 7 movies that were the biggest losses for distributors, but were claimed to be big hits of 2016. The movies were – Rajinikanth‘s Kabali, Sivakarthikeyan’s Remo, Vijay’s Bairavaa, Suriya’s Singam 3, Jayam Ravi’s Bogan, Karthi’s Kaashmora, Dhanush’s Kodi and Thodari.

As per reports, by Sreedhar Pillai, here’s what Tirupura stated, ” “I think Kollywood is the only industry which celebrates flops and holds success parties. Some of these films claim that they collected Rs 100 crore and stars distribute presents to crew members (Suriya gave a Toyota Fortuner to Si3 director Hari to celebrate its success). These stars are living in their own make-believe world where they can only give hits, and producers — to curry favour with them — put out ads saying their film is a ‘huge hit, biggest in Tamil cinema’ with inflated fake figures. Then they put out ads in papers claiming the film had a 50 or 100-day run!” He further explained, that when a film goes into losses, it puts pressure on the distributor who has borrowed money from financiers. The producer also reportedly hinted at issuing red cards, which means they would not take up films of certain stars that come at costs that are just not viable.

After this out burst on behalf of leading producer, wonder what the industry has to say to it? What do you have to say? Do tell us in the comment box below.
