Qarib Qarib Singlle Quick Movie Review: Irrfan Khan-Parvathy’s film is a refreshing take on love, relationship and everything in between

Irrfan Khan romanced Deepika Padukone in Piku and impressed everyone. Now his is all geared up for his next rom-com, Qarib Qarib Singlle, which is all set to hit the theatres tomorrow (November 10). Directed by Tanuja Chandra, this film pairs him opposite the south sensation Parvathy, who is making her bollywood debut with this one. Our in-house film critic, Ankita Chaurasia is watching Qarib Qarib Singlle at a press show and she has sent her first impressions.

Ankita says, “The dating scene in 2017 is about as fickle as it gets. So, when a film is titled Qarib Qarib Singlle, you go in expecting it to be an ode to singles and single hood. From the trailer, it was evident that the film would explore the dynamics of relationships in an era of online dating. But will the film manage to capture the fleeting nature of relationships today or will it merely skim the surface, as several films released recently have? Let’s find out…

Yogi (Irrfan Khan) and Jaya (Parvathy) are the cliched chalk-and-cheese. While Jaya is a widow, who has been single for so long, she has forgotten how being in a relationship means, Yogi, on the other hand is a dil-phenk aashiq, who is looking for ishq wala love. So when they meet up on an online dating site and then in a cafe, you know it won’t add up to anything. But one thing leads to another and they find themselves taking a trip together. The trip is when they start getting to know each other. But the journey has only begun. Do they eventually fall in love, which we are really hoping they do, by the end of the journey? We will soon find out…”
