Sony Entertainment Television will unveil the first teaser of Porus tonight at 8pm. However, here is a brief look at what can we expect from the historical saga. Well, Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Porus is his dream project. It tells the tale of the first defender of India. We know him as Raja Puru but to the world, he is known as Porus. It was he who stood up to the might of Alexander The Great and won him over with his nobility and statesmanship. The show will focus on the Battle of Hydaspes, which is a part of modern day Punjab. At a budget of Rs 500 crores, it is touted as Indian TV’s most expensive production. Isn’t that a staggering amount?
It stars Laksh Lalwani as Porus, Rohit Purohit as Alexander The Great, Rati Pandey as Anusuya and Suhani Dhanki as Princess Laachi, Porus’ love interest. The show is the pet project of producer Tewary, who is known for his great work in the mythological genre. He is the man behind Shani and also Mahakali, that airs this weekend. The producer-director says it was a challenge to recreate the Golden Age of Indian history, when India was known as the Sone Ki Chidiya and the Macedonian Era. Actress Bani J was first supposed to play Queen Olympias but now it will be essayed by Ira Dubey.
A large portion has been shot in Thailand to show the water transport route. Recreating that part was the toughest. The actor spent a long time in the country to learn diving for the under-water sequences. Laksh Lalwani reportedly left Pardes Main Hai Mera Dil for this show. Check out the video below…
We are sure that many will be excited for this show. We wonder which show will it replace. We are guessing it will be Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman. Stay tuned to Bollywood Life for more scoop and updates…
