Farhan Akhtar has quit one of the biggest social media platforms, Facebook, today morning. Though the actor didn’t mention the reason for quitting, it seems like the reason behind the decision is the heightened sensitivity over abuse of personal data. The actor shared the news on his Twitter account by tweeting, “Good morning. This is to inform you all that I have permanently deleted my personal Facebook account. However, the verified FarhanAkhtarLive page is still active.”

Earlier public figures and celebs like Elon Musk (Co-founder of SpaceX) Singer and actress Cher and popular Hollywood actor Jim Carrey also decided to abandon Facebook due to the similar reason. Jim Carrey had tweeted, “I’m dumping my @facebook stock and deleting my page because @facebook profited from Russian interference in our elections and they’re still not doing enough to stop it. I encourage all other investors who care about our future to do the same. #unfriendfacebook”

It’ll be interesting to see as to how many Bollywood celebs will follow Farhan and quit their FB accounts. On the professional front, Farhan Akhtar is currently finishing the script of Don 3 and might play the character of a cop in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer. As per reports, the film will go on floors in the mid-next year and will hit the screens in 2020.
