Kangana Ranaut has managed to push the envelope and kept at it, says Sushmita Sen!

Ms Sen talks about how taking risks has paid off for Kangy

In recent times, Sushmita Sen has been mighty impressed with the kind of films being made in Bollywood. Among the younger lot, the actress is very fond of Kangana Ranaut who recently won a National Award for her performance in Queen. Sush says that Kangana reminds her a lot about herself in her younger days.

She says, “I think she is in a very different time than I was. She is pushing the envelope even more than I did. When I was pushing the envelope, it was a shocker. It was blasphemous and almost a harakiri to do something like that. Today there is a lot more acceptance in terms of the changing social structure. Everytime I have been asked about which is the last film that stands out, other then Sridevi in English Vinglish, it’s Queen. It is one thing to push the envelope, and it’s another thing to keep at it and follow it up. She has managed to do that. Also, the fact that she has such an openess about her that she just takes it all in, puts it into her film and allows it to connect with people. I really hope that actors like that, never lose that ability. I am very proud of her. Right from the time I worked with her in my last Hindi film, No Problem, I was mesmerised by her. She is like this switch on-switch off button, a very alive person. God bless her because this has been cumulatively coming for her. She has taken risks in the past and it’s finally paying off.”
