John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate lands in legal trouble after an FIR filed against it for hurting religious sentiments

John Abraham will be next seen in Satyameva Jayate. While the first trailer of the film left a positive impression, we can’t say about the first song that was released today. The movie includes a remake of the hit ’90s track Dilbar and it is underwhelming. But that doesn’t even qualify as trouble for what is the new update about the movie. A BJP leader has filed an FIR against Satyameva Jayate, alleging that the trailer is hurting religious sentiments of a section of the society.

A report by National Herald says that BJP minority Front General Secretary Syed Ali Jafri as lodged a complaint, in Hyderabad, against the upcoming movie claiming that it hurts the sentiments of Shia community. In his statement, Syed has said, “There is one shot in the trailer which shows the festival of Muharram and it depicts a scene of Matam (self-flagellation). The actor is later shown committing a murder following Matam. This has hurt our sentiments.”

The BJP leader further has aksed CBFC to remove the scene from the movie. Failing to do so will result in countrywide protests against the film, he has threatened the organisation. He has said that his party members won’t let Satyameva Jayate release in India if the request is not met with.

Satyameva Jayate is set to release on August 15 and will be at loggerheads with Akshay Kumar’s Gold at the box office. The movie has been directed by Milap Zaveri, who has movies like Mastizaade and Jaane Kahaan Se Aayi Hai to his credit. The movie also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Aisha Sharma and Amruta Khanvilkar in key roles.
