Remember we told you guys about Bappi Lahiri’s son Bappa, being miffed with the makers of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for the way his dad’s song was parodied in the movie? The scene in question here is where Ranbir and Anushka play a guessing game? One of the songs is a Bappi Lahiri composition, Taki O Taki (with RK mouthing the lines thus: Tacky O Tacky) from Himmatwala. This new age composer was heard saying, “I have seen ADHM and was pretty upset when I saw how dad’s song was parodied. I don’t know why Karan’s trying to make fun of such golden melodies. When I told my father about it, he was very upset, too. Karan has made fun of films like Maqsad, too which also had good songs. We all have grown up on the songs of the ’80s. Though Bappa was visibly upset with Karan for this, Jeetendra on whom the song was picturised, took it with a sporting spirit. Jeetendra, while speaking to a leading magazine in fact advised everyone to develop a sense of humour. He also added that the parody was meant in good fun and everyone should take it that way. He further said that both Karan and Ranbir were sons of his dear friends and he could never be upset with them. He then asked in good humour what Taki meant? This ace star definitely gave us some good advice in an indirect way. While the stars are busy these days making fuss about certain issues, Jeetendra has advised us that not everything deserves blaming and certain things are meant to be taken with a pinch of salt. Yes we definitely agree with him.
Bappa’s lashing didn’t end here. He was so furious that he said, “Anyway, I have to admit that dad doesn’t care about it so much. ADHM was so bad that it hardly matters now. The only saving grace was that it showed more than 20 old songs on the iPod and then, they made fun of some. It was so confusing. Karan’s father Yashji and my dad have worked together in Muqaddar Ka Faisla, so why is Karan making fun of my dad’s music? Instead of ridiculing the 80s music as kids, we should be proud of what our fathers have done. It’s terrible when kids make fun of their father’s generation. Maybe a few dance steps were funny, but you can’t rip apart the music. I was born when Mawwali released and became a big hit. The director Bappaiah used to call me Mawwali affectionately from then. I have grown up on that. These are hit films made by huge directors and I find it very upsetting when people make fun of them…”

We agree this might have upset him but we are sure Karan didn’t mean to do so. Why would anyone insult such great composition and music? This was his way of bringing humour to his movie but hope that Jeetendra’s view might calm him down now.
