Is Ranbir Kapoor’s impersonation of Amitabh Bachchan in Bombay Velvet a hit or a miss? Vote!

After watching the most awaited trailer of the year, I couldn’t help but notice RK Jr’s attempt to recreate Big B’s magic from the 70’s

In the first shot of Bombay Velvet’s trailer, we see Ranbir Kapoor as Johnny Balraj uttering these lines,” Agli daffa yahan dikhai diya na, Aisa aankh ke beech me rakh ke dabba dalega“. And I immediately pressed the pause button and thought to myself,’ Wait a minute! Is Ranbir trying to pull off the Bachchan ishtyle from the ’70s?

And as the trailer progresses, we see enough glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor trying to impersonate Bachchan. Be it his dialogue delivery, his quirky Bachchan like antics mixed with hint of comedy and aggression, his body language or his Bambaiya slang, Jr RK looked like he is paying a tribute to Big B. The opening dialogue of the trailer looks straight out of a Bachchan movie from the ’70s and so does the last dialogue,” Rosie ko koi hath nahi lagayega, Apun marega use“. There is also a distinct mafia feel to the film which reminds me of Big B’s Don and Deewar days. The simmering anger and aggression which Johnny Balraj possesses is a typical impression of Amitabh Bachchan’s angry young man avatar.

I am not surprised at this Bachchan like portrayal of Ranbir, as Anurag Kashyap is a huge Big B fan and he has proved his love for Bachchan yet again after dedicating an entire short film to him in the film Bombay Talkies. In the end, all I want to say is I was impressed with Roy star’s attempt to pull off a Big B and I wonder what you guys thought of it. Is Ranbir’s Bachchan impersonation a hit or a miss? Vote!
