Ghajini, 3 Idiots, P.K. Baahubali 2 – Films that started the clubs in Bollywood

There are clubs in Bollywood and Aamir Khan has been the founder of mostly all of them. He only recently found his match in Baahubali 2 whose Hindi version made money much more than any Khan film ever. So now, thanks to Aamir and Baahubali 2, there are a lot of coveted clubs floating around that films would love to be part of. Many even aim for it with every release. Ghajini (2008) – Rs 100 crore club

Aamir Khan did something which no one thought was possible in 2008. He came out with a film which earned slightly over Rs. 100 crore. That was enough to open the eyes of everyone as to how much a film can earn if projected well. It was a remake of Memento but the way Aamir promoted it became a benchmark which is still followed. He not only got new haircut but abs too which made every actor worth their salt hit the gym with vengeance. Since then it has become a must-have for every actor.

3 Idiots (2009) – Rs 200 crore club

Aamir introduced yet another club with 3 Idiots which came a year after Ghajini. People were zapped! As if Rs 100 crore wasn’t enough to digest, this actor got more than that with his next film. A screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller Five Point Someone, it set the cash registers ringing like crazy. The fact that it depicted the thoughtless pressures of our education system found a lot of takers. Engineers could actually identify with the plight. No wonder that it went beyond anything Bollywood has ever seen.

P.K. (2014) – Rs 300 crore club

It didn’t matter that OMG! Oh My God broached a similar topic in 2012. P.K. became bigger and bigger with every passing day which made Aamir Khan introduce the next club for all the aspirants – the Rs 300 crore club. We doubt if it was because Aamir went full monty for the film. It was definitely because of the subject and of course, Rajkumar Hirani.

Baahubali 2 (2017) – Rs 400/Rs 500 crore club

And when the boss gets to business, it is never satisfied with just the creation of one club. So Baahubali 2 came up with the Rs 400 crore and Rs 500 clubs. Guess what? These numbers are done by the Hindi dubbed version of S S Rajamouli’s epic war drama. Need we say more?

Phew! We wonder what future holds for Baahubali 2 now.
