Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3, PK – Take a look at the biggest hits of Aamir Khan

Dangal will release this Friday which will be a surefire success because critics are going gaga about it. He never does movies which don’t make noise. They are not only massy but have a lot of class too. Aamir is a man who is the pioneer of every crore clubs that you see these days. He was one who kickstarted the Rs 100 crore club, Rs 200 crore club and also the Rs 300 crore club. With Dangal, he is expected to open the floodgates to the Rs 400 crore club. But before he gives yet another blockbuster to the industry, let us tell you about his last few hits which made Bollywood cash rich. (Also read: Dangal movie review: Aamir Khan delivers the bravest, grittiest, honest film of the year)

Ghajini

Box office: Rs. 114 crore

Aamir Khan’s film Ghajini was the one which started the Rs. 100 crore fad. Post this, it had become mandatory for a film to touch that figure. In 2008, it was an unheard of number for any film which goes on to prove why Aamir is the King of box office and nobody else. He creates records so that others can break it.

3 Idiots

Box office: Rs. 202.95 crore

In 2009, Aamir perhaps felt the need to do more. So from Rs. 100 crore club, he moved on to something bigger. 3 Idiots released and made over Rs. 200 crore. That’s no mean task because the film apparently had released in only 1700 screens. In fact, there have been reports that in the wake of this film, a lot of other projects which were scheduled to release next suffered. We have to say this film deserved every bit of the money that it earned.

Dhoom 3

Box office: Rs. 284.27 crore

Aamir employed a brilliant marketing strategy for this film. He knew that the franchise itself is big in India so he didn’t go all out with promotions. Resultant? The film only fell short of a few crores to enter the Rs. 300 crore club. (Also read: Aamir Khan would love to play Krishna if S.S. Rajamouli makes Mahabharata)

P.K.

Box office: Rs. 340.8 crore

Dhoom 3 must have missed the Rs. 300 crore but P.K. didn’t. In fact, it earned so much that it is today the highest grossing film of Bollywood. A story about an alien has never been appreciated so widely in India. In fact, comparisons with OMG! Oh My God couldn’t stop its historic win either. If that wasn’t enough, the film created history in China by earning more than Rs. 100 crore. This man surely knows how to change the box office game completely.

Dangal will now earn even more than P.K. if we go by the reviews that the film has released. Aamir is set to make some new records for others to break.
