News of Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Fanney Khan clashing with Salman Khan’s Race 3 made headlines when the films’ release dates were revealed. The fact that the Tiger Zinda Hai actor will be pitted against Aishwarya had to garner attention and fans were eager to see as to who would win the box office race. Though the clash was later averted, we had to decode what was the real reason behind it. Was it the fact that Anil Kapoor starred in both the movies? Or the makers simply wanted a solo release that benefits both the parties? Well, though industry trade pundits had their own version of this story, we prefer hearing it from the horse’s mouth instead. When BollywoodLife had an exclusive opportunity to chat with Mr Kapoor and Pihu Sand for their next release, Fanney Khan, we asked him to reveal the real reason behind this clash being averted and finally, we have the actual reason. When we asked Anil to share the reason as to why Fanney Khan was delayed and if it had to anything with its clash with Race 3, he denied it completely. He said, “It wasn’t because of the clash nor was it cause I was starring in both the movies. But we had a lot of work left. We thought we would complete it and release it by Eid but we couldn’t.” Eventually, the makers decided to lock in August 3 as their release date and clash with Irrfan’s Karwaan instead. Later, when Rajkummar Rao was asked to throw some light and open up on this ‘clash averting’ issue, he said, “I honestly don’t know. I am not the one who gets to decide the release date so I don’t know why was it postponed.” Since Anil Kapoor is the co-producer of Fanney Khan, he could answer it.
