Zee TV’s Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani has more twists in store than you could have imagined. After a lot of effort and humiliation, Gayatri (Drashti Dhami) has finally managed to win the trust and love of her husband, Ranaji (Siddhant Karnick). Unfortunately, her happiness was extremely short-lived as Badi Ranimaa has now brough a girl whom she claims is Sulakshana, Ranaji’s dead ex-wife.
While Gayatri’s life is going through immensely troubled times, life for the younger daughter-in-law of the royal family, Swarnalekha, isn’t any better. The poor girl has forever been unable to understand why her husband, Lakshya wouldn’t come close to her after so many years of marriage. Obviously she is not aware about Lakshya’s sexual orientation, which obviously is not towards girls. Kokila and CV have finally understood this and given up on their son altogether, but to win the kingdom from Ranaji and Rajmata, they need a grandchild to takeover. So they decide to get Swarnalekha impregnated by someone else. Enter, Lakhan aka Puneet Sharma.
Lakhan is a flirtatious, tribal who’d do anything for a girl and money. Reportedly, the character and the look are roughly inspired by Ranveer Singh’s character from Goliyon Ki Raasleela, Ram-Leela. Talking about his role, Puneet said, ““My character Lakhan is very confident one, outspoken with vibrance and a lot of positive energy. Yes, it is true that the character resonates a lot with Ranveer Singh in Goliyon Ki Rasleela, Ram-Leela. So my character is quite a Casanova of sorts and will be an arrogant one in the beginning. It includes a lot of shirtless scenes as well and I’m confident about my look. I hope audiences enjoy it! ”
