Shoojit Sircar’s Piku turned out to be a game-changer for actress Deepika Padukone in the industry. The actress not only received accolades and praises for her portrayal, but also got the opportunity to share screen space with acting stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan. Apart from turning out to be a huge box office success, Piku also got Deepika her Filmfare Best Actress award for her impressive stint in the film. In fact, her rumoured boyfriend Ranveer Singh also said that Piku is Dippy’s best performance till date, according to him. The titular character was earlier offered to the bubbly actress Parineeti Chopra, but she had already signed Daawat-e-Ishq, which also revolved around the father-daughter relationship. Unfortunately, the film didn’t work at the box office and turned out to be a forgettable affair for the movie buffs. So Parineeti rejecting the film definitely turned out to be one of the most positive things for Deepika’s career. The film titled Kesari is based on the Battle of Saragarhi, and is set to hit the screens on Holi next year.
