Dhanush starts shooting for his new project Amma Kanakku

The Kollywood actor has a series of films lined up this year

The year 2016 is going to be pretty eventful for actor Dhanush. At the very least, it is going to be a really busy one. He was already working for the Prabhu Solomon film Rail. Recently, he also started shooting for his upcoming political thriller with director Durai Senthil Kumar titled Kodi. Now, he has kicked off another project very recently.

The versatile Tamil actor tweeted yet again about beginning the shoot for his new film titled Amma Kanakku. Interestingly, the film is being directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, who is very new to direction and has made only one feature before this called The New Classmate. Quite obviously, it is her directorial debut in Kollywood and she is very glad that a big actor like Dhanush is working with the fresher. It will also be the first movie this year for Wunderbar films which is owned by the actor himself. Other than the VIP star, the casting also includes Amala Paul, director Samudrakani and veteran actress Revathi. Amma Kanakku is supposed to be a remake of the Hindi film Nil Battey Sannata.

It will be great seeing Amala Paul and Dhanush together as they shared a great chemistry in Velai Illa Pattathari. Revathi will be playing Amala’s mother whereas the role of Samudrakani remains undisclosed. As for the director, it is definitely a great opportunity and challenge for Ashwini to make a name for herself in the Tamil film industry which is undergoing a major transition.
