Decoded: Aamir Khan’s weight loss journey for Dangal from 95 kgs to 82 kgs in 3 weeks!

*Sigh* That’s a lot of kgs in less time…

For someone to undergo the flab to fab avatar deserves all our salutes and applauses. It’s not an easy thing to do and it is certainly not healthy! Well, Aamir Khan too did the same for his upcoming film Dangal. You’ll actually be baffled by the ounces of weight he put on to suit the character of Dangal that he’s playing and how he lost all the weight. For the first schedule of Dangal, Aamir Khan was asked to bulk up as the character needed to be a burly man. The actor in today’s interaction revealed that he actually put on 95 kgs for the same! *beads of perspiration over such dedication* Aamir? You, sir are awesome!

However, the second phase of the film demanded Aamir to shed weight and become a fit wrestler. Needless to say, Aamir got on the flight to US and took up the best weight loss regime so as to wash out all the extra weight. He literally lost 13 kgs in 3 weeks! Yes! 3 F**KING weeks! The actor was quoted saying, “I had to become 95 kgs for Dangal. Now I have lost 13 kgs and am 82 kgs. I have to lose another 12-25 kgs for the other part of Dangal. I am intending to attain the Ghajini look.” Wow. This dude sure is super determined and we’re liking it!

Aamir used to burn almost 4500 calories a day in his 3 week stay in US. He said, “I was burning 4500 calories a day in USA through biking, trekking, swimming and a lot of other activities. I ate less and worked out more. The maths was that I ate 1500 calories and burned about 4500. The deficit was more so weight was decreasing fast, but it was unhealthy as the deficit should not be more then 25 percent. I had a balanced diet, carbs, fats, proteins and fibres. I had to break my vegan diet as my doctor had advised me to eat fish ’cause he told that I need a protein rich diet for this weight loss. However, I’ll come back to vegan diet soon.”

Well, amidst the whole revelation of how he lost so much weight in such little time, considering his age, the Dangal actor even admitted that it was not healthy to gain and lose weight in such a way as it has it’s repercussions. He said, “Gaining and losing weight is not healthy. I am pushing the envelope, I was doing 6-7 hours of exercise in the USA including trekking, swimming, running and many more things.” However, the actor does feel at ease now that he has shed all the weight he gained during the course of shooting.
