Laila Main Laila, Aap Jaisa Koi – if you are a fan of the disco numbers that outshined every other song in the 80’s then you are totally going to adore Zindagi Meri Dance Dance from the upcoming gangster drama Daddy. The movie is based on the life of gangster Arun Gawli, who ruled Mumbai in the 80’s and Arjun Rampal essays the titular role. Arjun looks perfect to the role, with a little help from prosthetic to reshape his nose. The latest song Zindagi Meri Dance Dance is an out and out disco number by Bappi Lahiri, which has been recreated by Olefonken, and after such a long time we are seeing the trademark elements of the dsico. Sure, we have heard songs like Jhoom Jhooom for Guradians of the Galaxy and Disco Deewane from Student of the Year in recent times, but Zindagi Meri Dance Dance is something so enigmatic that we fear it is a time machine in disguise of a song.
Zindagi Meri Dance Dance hits just the right notes and you travel back to the era of golden songs. It doesn’t try to dwell in past and tries to capture the up-speed beats that we are used to in present. The song is purely 80’s. It is slow, has a trippy vibe and a singer’s sultry voice to make it a perfect treat. Alisha Chinai and Vijay Benedict’s is still as magical as it was back then. And the more we say about the master of words Anjaan, it would be less.
Zindagi Meri Dance Dance first appeared in the 1987 Mithun Chakraborty film Dance Dance. Perfectly recreated for Daddy.
Arjun Rampal looks menacingly good for the role. Totally looking forward to this film.
Daddy is a story of the famous gangster turned politician, Arun Gawli. The release release date of the film has been pushed from July 21 to September 8, so that the real Daddy can watch the film. This was done on special request by his daughter Geeta. One of the prime reasons for Arjun to choose this movie, he reveals, is because of the intriguing personality of Gawli. He said, “The story is that every time when he came out of the prison for reformation and a normal life, did the society accept him? Or he took another criminal action in an extreme situation? Does the action justify because of the situation, or his past never allowed him to get back to the normal life even after his punishment in jail? The story is complex and mysterious, so is Gawli, as a personality. I, as a creative person, was highly intrigued by all these… People should know this story.”
