‘Balika Vadhu’ to complete 1,000 episodes

Colors’ top-rated show Balika Vadhu is gearing up to set a benchmark by completing thousand episodes this Monday

When Colors’ Balika Vadhu hit the small screen it was lapped up by the audience for its fresh content. And by critics who vociferously protested against the practice of child marriage being validated on the show. Who can forget the early days of the soap when the nation cried along with Avika Gor as the sensitive and vulnerable Anandi? The show has taken a generation leap and Pratyusha Banerjee portrays the role of Anandi with a lot of conviction.

Even today Balika Vadhu remains one of the most watched soaps on Indian television. This Monday (May 14), the show will complete its 1000th episode, a rare feat for any programme on the small screen. Anup Soni, who plays Bhairav, said in an interview that the show has been a trendsetter in both technique and content, and has continued to experiment. He is of course very happy that the show has reached this milestone.

Shashank Vyas who plays Jagya is excited to shoot the 1000th episode. He believes that in times when TV shows goes off air within months of its launch, to entertain fans for such a long period is indeed a praiseworthy achievement. He also considers himself the luckiest person in the television industry, and also the worst actor in his team. He has to compete with veterans Surekha Sikri and Anup Soni, and fellow youngsters Pratyusha Banerjee and Anjum Farooki. According to him, the reason the show worked so well is the fact that everyone works together as a team to better every scene.

Completing 1000 episodes is a rare feat indeed and we wish the team of Balika Vadhu hearty congratulations for entertaining us for so long!
