Here’s wishing the director of That Girl In Yellow Boots a very happy birthday

He started off as a writer with Ramgopal Varma’s Satya, buzzing with revolutionary ideas that might have changed Bollywood for good (or so he thought). But the time wasn’t right for Anurag Kashyap to find the limelight. After his directorial debut Paanch was not cleared by the Censor Board, he became frustrated and started his rants against the big names of moviedom. His next film, Black Friday also faced a lot of problems, which turned him even more bitter and cynical. He went on to make No Smoking with John Abraham which nobody understood, other than a few critics who were clued in to world cinema. And then came Dev.D – a film that changed it all for Anurag. All of a sudden he became the toast of the town; and he went on to produce films that he believed in, like Udaan, Shaitaan and Michael.
