Indian Television is BIG, and there’s no denying the fact
Shah Rukh Khan has done it, Salman Khan has done it too and so has Aamir Khan! Even Akshay Kumar couldn’t keep his hand off it. Yes, we’ve often seen our Bollywood A-listers donning the hat of a host or a judge or a guest on popular TV shows. But seldom do we catch them making their acting debuts on the small screen. Inhibitions? Maybe! But if we consider the leap from telly-town to B-town a prestigious one then why can’t we extend the same courtesy to the reverse. Television is, after all, one of the biggest industries in the country.
Contrary to the common notion of looking down upon small screen, there are some actors who have realized the reach and popularity of TV. Actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor have dived into acting on small screen.
While Anil Kapoor’s Hindi version of 24 is the most successful stint of any Bollywood actor on TV, Big B’s grand debut as an actor in Anurag Kashyap’s Yudh managed to create a solid buzz. Others like Poonam Dhillon and Bhagyashree found a new lease to their acting career here. And yes, Sonali Bendre looked splendid in her brief stint as an actress on small screen.
Here’s taking a look at 5 Bollywood actors who weren’t in the least bit hesitant of making their acting debut on TV and managed to leave an impact!
Amitabh Bachchan- Yudh
Anil Kapoor- 24
Sonali Bendre- Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye
Poonam Dhillon- Ekk Nayi Pehchaan
