Akshay Kumar’s transformation into a Bengali babu for Gold is equal parts awe-inspiring and fun – watch video

Akshay Kumar seems to have hit gold again with his new patriotic sports drama named (no marks for guessing) Gold! Based on true events that showcases the story of India’s first Olympic medal win as an independent country, the film has Akshay playing the part of Tapan Das, the coach of the Indian Hockey Team that is still playing under the British Raj. Apart from that, it will also mark the debut of TV star Moni Roy who will be seen playing Akshay’s wife on-screen. Fans have been going gaga over their chemistry since the release of the trailer and the song, and it is goes without saying that the excitement level has hist the roof.

Speaking about the experience of working with Akshay Kumar aka khiladi, Mouni Roy had earlier told indianexpress.com, “(It was) wonderful. He is so sincere in every shot. First of all, I want to say that you feel so lucky to just stand in the same frame as him and every day on the film set, I have learnt something. I have immense love and respect for that man. I am so glad to be a part of the film.” Also Read: Gold song Naino Ne Baandhi first look: Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy’s refreshing chemistry is hard to ignore

And we couldn’t agree more. In fact, the makers have released the making of of Tapan Das and the journey that Akshay went through to get into the skin of the character and it is just as quirky as him. It even makes you wonder as to how can one get it so perfect, while having a ball at the same time. But we guess, that’s the trick anyway, isn’t it? Directed by Reema Kagti, the period film is slated for an Independence day release and we’re excited. Are you?
