The actor feels sorry that a comic hero is not taken seriously despite the fact that comedy is a tough genre
After a series of action films, Akshay Kumar is back to making people laugh with his upcoming romantic comedy, Singh Is Bliing. Directed by Prabhu Dheva, the film sees Amy Jackson pairing up opposite Akshay. In a conversation with BollywoodLife, the Khiladi revealed that he was really happy to be returning to comedy as he enjoys doing it very much. However, he’s also saddened by the fact that a comic hero is not taken seriously.
When asked if he’s happy to be back to comedy, the actor said, “I love it, it’s great to do comedy and it’s very difficult to do comedy; but unfortunately a comic hero, a guy who can do comedy, doesn’t get his due in the industry. Because we look down at it. Unless you do romance, or cry or scream, you don’t get a best actor award. If you’re making people laugh, people take it as a buffoonery. I don’t get why… it is very sad.”
Well, let’s see if Singh Is Bliing turns out to be a trendsetter and changes the game. The film which also stars Lara Dutta and Kay Kay Menon in pivotal roles, is slated to hit screens on October 2.
