As we observe Shaheed day today we look back at films based on Bhagat Singh. Many years ago on this day, Bhagat Singh sacrificed his life for the freedom of India and since then he has become a legend. Several films have been made on the Bhagat Singh with different actors, so we would like to know from you which Bollywood actor’s portrayal of Bhagat Singh did you like the most?
Ajay Devgn
Ajay Devgn played the mighty heart in The Legend of Bhagat Singh. Till date many have regarded this as one of the best films on Bhagat Singh and suggested that it has been Ajay Devgn’s most terrific performance. Though it failed to make much at the box office, Ajay Devgn won a National Award for his performance in this film and it remains as one of our personal favourites too.
Bobby Deol
Bobby Deol played Bhagat Singh in 23rd March 1931: Shaheed. This film released on the same day as The Legend Of Bhagat Singh. Both the films did not manage to make much moolah, but Bobby Deol, who was younger than Ajay, looked more similar and apt for the role of the legendary leader. Though Bobby Deol didn’t win any awards, his performance was praised. This film had more violence.
Manoj Kumar
Manoj Kumar essayed this young matyr’s role in the 1965 film, Shaheed. Directed by S Ram Sharma, the film was well received and earned a few awards including the National Award. Manoj Kumar’s performance was also lauded by the people.
Sonu Sood
Shaheed-E-Azam was Sonu Sood‘s debut Hindi film. The film was released before The Legend Of Bhagat Singh and 23rd March 1931: Shaheed, but it also failed to impress the audience. However, everyone liked Sonu’s performance.
Siddharth
Siddharth played the role of Bhagat Singh in Aamir Khan starrere Rang De Basanti and we have to say that he was absolutely fabulous. Though the film was not focusing just on Bhagat Singh, like the other four films, his part was really important for the plot of the film. The film was a huge hit and all the actors received praise for their work in the film.
