After Baahubali 2, Toilet Ek Prem Katha is waiting to debut in China?

Indian filmmakers just can’t get enough of China and why would they. In recent times, it has become more lucrative than any other market in the world. Dangal was an eye-opener. The amount of money Aamir Khan‘s film earned is simply unbelievable. Now, everyone is making a beeline to release their films in China. Recent to join the fray is Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The film has passed the China Censor and is ready to hit the theatres there. It will be interesting to see how many screens the film gets because Bajrangi Bhaijaan had opened at 9000 screens. That’s the highest number of screens anywhere. Now we hear Toilet Ek Prem Katha is also getting ready for a China release.

Ramesh Bala yesterday tweeted that TEPK has been been submitted for Censor certificate in China. Hindi Medium is releasing on April 4, 2018 in China. If you notice, films that are high on emotional content are looking towards China to maximise their income at the box office. If we start with 3 Idiots, it is on our flawed education system which is pretty similar to China’s. Later, PK connected with them because they are as god-fearing as us. Dangal dealt with female foeticide which is also a major concern for them. Secret Superstar is about women empowerment while Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a human interest story. All these worked well there because the Chinese found semblance between the sensibilities of two nations. Guess TEPK thus wants to try its luck there. Who would have thought that two nations who have had icy cold relations for so long, have so many similarities in culture. China has turned out to be quite interesting for Bollywood.
