Aamir going almost nude with only a transistor covering his assets got everybody talking. The marketing genius however didn’t do heavy duty promotions for his latest release, which remained the talk of the town thanks to the many controversies ever since its release. This Aamir-Anushka starrer was accused of not just hurting Hindu sentiments, but Subramanian Swamy claims that Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s production is funded by the ISI. However, all controversies aside this movie got the makers smiling all the way to their banks with the box office collections of PK already beating both Salman and SRK’s films Kick and Happy New Year records. In mere 10 days the film minted Rs 263.5 crore in domestic box office and Rs 112.58 crore (17.7 million USD) in the overseas market summing up to Rs 376 crore.

This film did revive Farah Khan after her last debacle however failed to create the Chennai Express success story. SRK ensured that his movie grabbed eyeballs with the world tour and TV dance reality show and many promotional events. The result? His film made an overall domestic collection of Rs 203 crore nett and his overseas appeal ensured that he beat Sallu’s Kick record with Rs 379 crore overall collection.
Salman’s Kick: The Dabangg hero returned to silver screen after a year’s break with two releases this year. While his ambitious project Jai Ho failed to create impact, his Eid release Kick turned out to be a blockbuster. Sallu’s pairing with Jacqueline Fernandez too was much appreciated and his singing got him new fans. Sajid Nadiadwala couldn’t have asked for a bigger directorial debut. The box office king proved again that only Salman can have seven Rs 100 crore movies under his belt. This time around too SK’s film collected about Rs 377 crore inclusive of international collections. Even SRK’s HNY failed to beat his domestic record of Rs 223 crore collection.
