Yes, Fawad Khan has finally spoken. The man who has become the poster boy of Pakistani artistes ban in India took to social media to open up and give an official statement. Fawad’s upcoming film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil under the Dharma Production banner is facing opposition in India. Many of from various political parties and Bollywood-wallahs wants the actor to come out and condemn the terrorist attacks. The actor did just that but in a more subtle and well worded Facebook post.
Fawad today wrote on his FB page, “I’ve been in Lahore since July as my wife and I had been expecting our second child. I’ve received numerous requests from the media and from well wishers worldwide asking me for my thoughts on the sad incidents that took place in the past few weeks. As a father of two little children, I pray and wish like many others that together we can build and live in a more peaceful world. I believe we owe it to our children who will shape our tomorrow. This is the first time I have spoken on the matter. Please disregard any other words attributed to me during this time because I have not said them. I thank all my fans and fellow artists from Pakistan, India and people in general all over the world who have shown continued support for their belief in love and understanding to unite a divisive world.”
With this one statement the actor has burst three controversial bubbles. And here it is… (Also read: SHOCKING! Fawad Khan’s role chopped off from Sushant Singh Rajput starrer MS Dhoni: The Untold Story)
#Firstly the actor has rubbished all reports that claimed Fawad fled the country post the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena threat to Pakistani artistes asking them to leave the country within 48 hours. The actor revealed in his post that he was already in Pakistan on July 4. The horrific Uri attacks took place only on September 18 and MNS came into the picture only post this.
#Secondly the actor has called all claims of him having made the statement against Bollywood. Fawad in his official comment says, “This is the first time I have spoken on the matter. Please disregard any other words attributed to me during this time because I have not said them.”, clearly putting to rest all claims that the actor had said, “Bollywood kisi ke baap ki hai kya jo hum wahan kaam nahin karenge, Bollywood hamare logon ke wajah se hi hai. Jo log hamara virodh kar rahe hain, woh hote kaun hai virodh karne wale, inn chhote logon ki virodh ki hume kya parwah.”
#Fawad also silenced all those were bashing him for not condemning terrorism. In his own way the actor has spoken against terrorism, thanked ‘Indians’ and talked about ‘sad incidents’, ‘peaceful worlds’ and ‘unite a divisive world’.
Cynics might call this a move to save his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Others might claim that Fawad has played safe, but it’s still commendable to speak up especially since everyone who has spoken against terrorism be it Salman Khan or Adnan Sami, everyone faced flak.
