Just as Salman returns as Prem, tell us which is your favourite Prem avatar till date…
Salman Khan is undoubtedly the only star in B-town to enjoy mammoth size of fan following in India and abroad! It is kind of crazy the way people throng to the movies and shoots of this star, just to get his one glimpse or probably meet him, if they are lucky enough! Prem is for Salman what Vijay is for Amitabh Bachchan. Salman first played a shy, love-struck Prem in Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989 and the moniker stuck to him!
His on-screen Prem avatar is quite unlike his real life Dabangg persona. Prem is understated, while Salman is flamboyant. Prem is shy, while Salman is bold. Prem is a quintessential good boy, while Salman is the bad boy women dig! Well, it really works in the actor’s favour that Prem is an antithesis to Salman.
Just as Salman has reunited with his favourite director Sooraj Barjatya to give us yet another unforgettable, not to mention grand, love story..let’s look at all his Prem characters. Don’t forget to pick favourite from this.
Maine Pyar Kiya
It all started with this film. The year was 1989 and history was created. Need we say more?
Andaz Apna Apna
Prem Bhupali from this cult classic was corny and funny as hell. He and Aamir KILLED us with their humourous tongue-in-cheek lines.
Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!
He and Madhuri Dixit, the moon light and those unforgettable steps! How can one forget Salman’s rendition of a quintessential lover boy?
Judwaa
He had a double role in this one. He was a rowdy buffoon in one role and other character was of course of the nice ‘Prem’. Salman was believable in his whole handsome, good boy act!
Deewana Mastana
This was a cameo, but what an unforgettable one! What fun was it to just Salman take the lady Juhi Chawla at the end of film, while poor Anil Kapoor and Govinda were left funnily, albeit cruelly, at the altar.
Biwi No. 1
Okay, so nice Prem got a break from playing god-two-shoes in this flick. He was at his charming best when he juggled his dutiful wife Karisma Kapoor and his hot girlfriend Sushmita Sen!
Hum Saath Saath Hai
This is the quintessential Sooraj Barjatya Prem we are talking about. All sugar no spice, this Prem was a dream of many girls in the nineties, and probably still is.
Chal Mere Bhai
This was also a cameo but Salman looked predictably dashing in it!
Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye
Again a typical love story, Salman Khan plays a typical Prem even in this one.
No Entry
Salman’s Prem gets a bit (or lot!) snazzy here! He is charming, yes, but also a casanova who can’t help but have a little fun on the side despite being married. This character could have easily become grey, but Salman adds oodles of charm to it, making us helplessly fall in love with him.
Partner
A remake of the hit Hitch, Prem here is a master of potions and all love-related solutions! He is quirky and cool. We like this Prem avatar the best!
Ready
This was his last outing as Prem before Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and it really reinstated his hold over the moniker Prem.
