Yash Raj films has confirmed that Salman Khan will be doing the sequel to his blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger with Katrina Kaif. The news comes on the heels of speculation on whether or not Salman will do the film. Tiger Zinda Hai, the sequel is actually happening with the original lead pair, Salman and Katrina Kaif. Only difference being the film will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar rather than Kabir Khan who helmed the first one. We told you how Salman Khan is confused which film should be his next after Tubelight as he is bombarded by projects every other day. Everyone wants to work with him as he can ensure success with the snap of his finger. He definitely was leaning towards Tiger Zinda Hai since Ali directed his hit Sultan, but he also had Race 3 and Dabangg 3 in consideration. Finally, he must have green lighted the YRF sequel and hence the announcement today of its Christmas release.

We also found a strange similarity between Tiger Zinda Hai and his first solo release Maine Pyaar Kiya. Did you know that Salman’s Maine Pyar Kiya released on the same month that Tiger Zinda Hai will release – December? Maine Pyar Kiya released on December 29, 1989. Now we don’t have to spell it out as to what happened to this film. It was one of the highest grossers of 1989 as it was made at an estimated budget of 2 crore and grossed nearly 18 crore. Nothing could get bigger than that. He was introduced to the world in a big way. Today, it’s a cult. We don’t mind watching it on loop. Every weekend we even watch it with our family. It wasn’t a Christmas release but more of a New Year Special but the fact that it released in the same month as Tiger Zinda Hai makes the latter extra special.

YRF announced the release date of the sequel to their 2012 blockbuster and we are sure everybody is rejoicing it. That film was big with Salman seen as a RAW agent who fell in love and did what he was asked not to. Katrina and his jodi was the highlight of the film. The sequel too will have them in the lead and will take the film forward. We wonder if they will be shown married in the film now since in the first one, the end only hinted how they are having fun together while everyone is hot on their trail. The film releases in December 2017 and that brings it closer to Salman’s first all time blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya.

Now we told you what the film will be all about. First of all, Tiger Zinda Hai will be on the lines of Matt Damon’s famous spy franchise, Jason Bourne. No…no… Salman Khan won’t be having memory loss in the film; it’s just that he will be chased by his own country’s RAW team, an organisation he was a part of. Tiger Zinda Hai will be mostly shot abroad, and Ali Abbas Zafar will travelling to a few exotic locales to do a recce there. The cast of the film will be mostly international, so expect some really high octane stunts that will give some really tough competition. Sources close to the film reveal that there will be a few Hollywood stars in the film, and Salman Khan’s leading lady will be a foreign face as well.

Now you tell us what do you have to say about this connection between two films of Salman Khan!
