The comedian’s claim that a BMC official asked him for a bribe hasn’t gone down well with everybody…
Yesterday we reported to you how Kapil Sharma had BLASTED PM Narendra Modi over Twitter and mocked his “Achche Din” after a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officer asked him for a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The actor had posted, “I am paying 15 cr income tax from last 5 year n still i have to pay 5 lacs bribe to BMC office for making my office. Yeh hain aapke achhe din? @narendramodi”
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis promptly replied and assured the actor that swift action will be taken by the government towards this incident. He tweeted to Kapil, “Kapil bhai pls provide all info. Have directed MC,BMC to take strictest action. We will not spare the culprit.”
However, a lot of people stay divided on this issue raised by the host of The Kapil Sharma Show. While a few leaders have acknowledged Kapil’s tweets, some have criticised him. Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam wrote on Twitter, “Shiv Sena BJP ruled #BMC is the most corrupt municipality in the world. Nothing works hr without bribe. Milind Deora also tweeted, “Kudos @KapilSharmaK9 for exposing BMC’s institutionalised extortion racket & thx for lending millions of Mumbaikars your voice.”
Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray also tweeted, “Thank you for being an alert Mumbaikar. Wld req you to assist Mayor and the MC to help in the drive against corruption. would need the details of the officer and act be conveyed to the Mayor and MC to initiate action.”

However, Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena didn’t find his allegations amusing! In fact, MNS members have threatened that they won’t allow him to shoot unless he proves his claims of corruption in the BMC. As per Mumbai Mirror, Amey Khopkar (head of the MNS’s film wing), mentioned, “If he (Kapil) is unable to prove his allegations, then we won’t allow him to shoot in Mumbai till he apologies to us.”
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut also slammed the comedian as he told Mumbai Mirror, “Kapil Sharma reads out prepared scripts, I want to know who wrote this script.”

In fact, BJP legislator Ram Kadam has even filed a complaint against Sharma, as he explains, “I have filed a complaint against the comedian as he kept quiet on bribery issue and did not file a complaint against the officer who asked for the bribe. I know that one who gives bribe is equally responsible as the one who demands it.”
Devendra Fadnavis’ swift reply also came under scrutiny, when Nitesh Rane tweeted, “What’s the use of reacting to 1 Kapil Sharma..There r many Kapil Sharmas in Mumbai who face the same trouble with the BMC every day. If u want to take against the BMC or want Maha CM 2 talk 2 u within a few mins.. Pls get this mask (he tweeted a picture of person wearing Kapil’s face as a mask)..wil distribute 2.”
