The Prabhu Dheva directorial is slated to hit screens on October 2
The makers of Akshay Kumar – Amy Jackson’s upcoming comedy drama, Singh Is Bliing have released the first song from the film. The song is sung by popular Punjabi singer-actor, Diljit Dosanjh, who will soon be making his Bollywood debut with Kareena Kapoor Khan in Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab.Written and composed by Sneha Khanwalkar, the song was originally produced for MTV’s Sound Trippin where Sneha would explore 10 different places in India and compose a song for each place with the unusual sounds she heard there. Given that this was her song for Punjab, it seems very fitting to use it as an introduction to our Bliing Singh, Akshay.
There is no doubt that the song is a great listen, I had liked it when it was first released in 2012 but the new picturisation just makes it so much better. It is much more colourful in terms of culture… so you have different pinds (villages) of Punjab and people having lassis in giant glasses and girls doing gidda (folk dance) and boys shaking their legs to Bhangra steps, but most importantly you have Akshay performing Gatka (Sikh martial arts) which is quite entertaining. I doubt anybody in the industry could have pulled it off quite like Akshay.
