There’s more to this macho star than just Bodyguard, Ready and Dabangg. Read on…
Fans of Salman Khan thump their chest with pride whenever his similar looking, sounding and presented new film hits the theatres. It’s, as if, their responsibility to make sure bhai‘s films break all records. But in the milieu of his goon bashing, Devil-ery and lame humour, the actor in him has gotten lost somewhere. There is more to this actor than just dialoguebazzi and dhishoom dhishoom. When the actor was still trying to make his hold in the industry, he did films that will even make his detractors proud. Here are some of underrated gems of Salman Khan!
Baaghi: A Rebel for Love
Did you know it was Salman Khan’s idea that shaped up into a film called Baaghi? It is a movie about forced prostitution which is rampant even today. He plays a drifter with no clear goals in life until love makes him take a stand for his beloved. The young Salman was so convincing as the man who is in love and will do anything to protect it.
Love
Salman has anger issues as we all think. But this is one film which the actor did much before his temper issues became the talk of the town. He plays this hot-headed guy in love with a sweet and bubbly girl who helps him tame his anger. Salman has to be seen to be believed. He is intense, he is furious, he is bitter…and he does it all with such elan! You would want to touch and console him!
Jaagruti
It is an oft-seen revenge drama. Yes, but Salman in it is not what we see these days. He is cruel, he is brutal yet he knows how to love. He is a crusader who rages war against anti-social activities which is far removed and much better tha his cocky Jai Ho. There was so much pain and agony on his face as if he is feeling it for real. It’s been some time since we saw such strong expressions on his face onscreen.
Khamoshi: The Musical
This Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is unlike any of the films he directed or produced. It was heartwarming and a musical delight. Salman Khan was a big relief in this emotional drama about a girl and her family’s woes. He played a lover boy nonetheless, but it was done so perfectly that he touched your heart. Remember the scene where he fails to hold back his tears while narrating Nana Patekar’s speech? Salman has never been so endearing in any film!
Phir Milenge
Not many even know about this film which dealt with AIDS. Yes, he had a special appearance, but he managed to steal our hearts in those few scenes. If he was the passionate lover in the first half, he was a picture of agony during his last days in the film. He displayed both the emotions amazingly well!
We would love to see a return of such an emotional and expressive Salman Khan on screen!
