Badlapur music review: Sachin-Jigar come up with an explosive album for Varun Dhawan’s revenge saga!

Varun Dhawan is currently on a promotional spree for his upcoming release Badlapur. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the revenge saga also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Yami Gautam and Radhike Apte in important roles. The film has been in the news ever since its trailer was released. In fact, Jr Dhawan became the talk of the town after the trailer came out. While Badlapur looks like a promising venture, here’s looking at the music of Raghavan’s film which is slated to release on February 20…

Jee Karda: Sung by Divya Kumar and composed by Sachin-Jigar, Jee Karda is a hauntingly beautiful track which will get you hooked from the word go. Soulful lyrics, rock touch to the music and Kumar’s dumdaar voice, all sync blend togther perfectly and how. Yes, this track did remind me of Cocktail number but nonetheless its a must-hear. As for the video, well, Jr Dhawan nails it with his aggression, expressions and of course with his moves. So all in all, Jee Karda is an absolute audio-visual delight.

Jeena Jeena: With this song, popular Pakistani singer Atif Aslam is back. Its a slow romantic number which Aslam’s forte and therefore its not surprising that he has crooned this track so well. Jeena Jeena starts off with a beautiful line and that’s when you know Atif has got you. Though this song is completely different from Jee Karda, there is one thing which is common between them – both the tracks are addictive! While Atif Aslam is undoubtedly bang on with his vocals, what makes Jeena Jeena a good hear is its meaningful lyrics. So kudos to Priya Saraiya and Dinesh Vijan for penning down this song.

Judaai: This beautiful rendition has been sung by none other than Arjit Singh and the very talented Rekha Bhardwaj. And that’s what makes Judaai special. The song starts off with soothing music and then you get to hear Bardwaj’s voice which is very subtle yet empowering. But then Singh comes into the picture and takes Judaai to another level with his dumdaar aawaz. Though you may find this track a bit slow in the beginning but hear it nevertheless and I am pretty sure you’ll fall in love it.

Jee Karda (Rock version): The rock version is sung by Divya Kumar himself and though the attempt is good, I found the original version more impactful. Since I am not a regular listener of rock music, it sort of didn’t work for me. However, if you love the rock genre then do listen the track once and then decide whether you want it on your playlist or not.

Judaai (remix): Just like Jee Karda, even Judaai has another version but again I felt the original one is way better. It seems the makers have incorporated the remix version just to increase the number of songs in the album.

Our pick: All the three songs – Jee Karda, Judaai and Jeena Jeena are worth hearing!

Verdict: Barring the rock version of Jee Karda and remix version of Judaai, all the songs are beautiful and addictive at the same time!
